“It is great news to hear that Catskill Regional Medical Center will receive funding to address the critical need to upgrade its generator. Upon taking office and after meeting with hospital officials I prodded state and federal officials to cut the red tape and finally award this essential funding. We cannot afford for our rural hospitals to be stranded without power because of a hurricane, a winter storm or any another emergency. A hospital’s life-saving medical equipment is dependent on electricity, and it is critical that our rural hospitals have capable generators.” Read more

“Fraudulent ‘organic’ grain and feed originating overseas is not only deceptive to consumers, but it artificially drives down the price of real organics, hurting legitimate organic farmers in Upstate New York and across the country. I am proud to introduce the Organic Farmer and Consumer Protection Act alongside Congresswoman Lujan Grisham as it will crack down on these fake organics. This is commonsense legislation that puts American consumers and farmers first.” Read more

  • Faso Introduces Infrastructure Expansion Act to Expand Federal Infrastructure Funds in New York State

    Tags: Economy and Jobs

“As people and businesses flee our state it is hard to fathom why New York State would continue to impose these unnecessary liability insurance costs on our citizens. New York is the only state that imposes this costly mandate which continues to incentivize people, businesses and jobs to flee our state. New York State is plagued with an old and decaying public infrastructure and a property tax burden and business costs which makes New York the single worst state in the nation in which to do business. The Scaffold Law also drives up insurance costs for homeowners, raising the cost of a new, single-family home by between $5000 and $10000. This antiquated law greatly increases the costs of all public construction projects and has greatly limited the number of liability insurance carriers even willing to write insurance policies in our state. This law doesn’t even promote a safer workplace environment for construction workers, as our state is no safer for workers than the 49 other states which don’t have this liability statute. We can create more construction jobs and fund additional projects in New York if we aren’t wasting taxpayer dollars.” Read more

  • Congressman Faso Joins Problem Solvers Caucus Colleagues, Senators, in Late Night Bipartisan, Bicameral Meeting to Avert September Crises

Tags: Healthcare, Debt and Deficits, Tax Reform

“Our work on this caucus is a much-needed breath of fresh air from all of the partisan politics consuming Washington. After meeting with a bipartisan group of Senators last night I am optimistic that there is the will to find a bipartisan fix to our healthcare system, and to find common ground regarding other areas of government in need of reform. Our nation’s healthcare system is incredibly complex, and as we continue to debate systemic changes it is critical that Upstate New Yorkers aren’t left at risk. This understates the importance of these incremental bipartisan solutions and the work of this caucus.” Read more
