Washington, D.C. – Congressman John Faso (R-Kinderhook) issued the following statement on the President’s Waters of the United States (WOTUS) executive order:

“The Obama administration’s controversial EPA WOTUS rule is a dangerous expansion of the agency’s regulatory authority over 19th District family farms, businesses and property owners. Before it was correctly paused by the courts, WOTUS would have required local farmers to apply for federal permits for routine work involving drainage ditches or dry streambeds on their property, a costly and time-consuming process for a seasonal enterprise. I applaud President Trump for taking an important step toward eventually overturning this controversial rule and maintain my commitment to high environmental standards for existing water sources covered under the Clean Water Act.”
