Kinderhook, NY - Congressman John Faso (R-Kinderhook) today announced a grant award from the Department of Transportation to Sullivan County International Airport.
“I am happy that Sullivan County International Airport will receive these much-needed resources. These funds will be used to upgrade aged taxiway lighting systems, enhance aircraft visual guidance, and improve safety. I am proud to advocate for our local airports so that they can maintain the highest level of safety and continue to effectively serve the people of Sullivan County and the surrounding communities,” Congressman Faso said.
“Our airport, like all of Sullivan County, stands poised to reach its potential as never before, and the County Legislature is diligently and enthusiastically working to realize that potential,” said Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez. “We are deeply grateful to our friends and advocates at the federal level, particularly Congressman John Faso, for the ongoing and significant support of this important part of our transportation infrastructure. This funding will help modernize the Sullivan County International Airport, make it safer, and propel it closer to becoming the valued regional resource we envision it to be.”
The grant of $733,000 to Sullivan County International Airport was awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration. These funds will go toward the reconstruction of 24 existing airfield guidance signs, reconstruction of taxiway lighting systems, and the installation of a replacement wind cone navigational aid.
