Washington, D.C. - Congressman John Faso (R-Kinderhook) released the following statement upon the House's passage of the final version of the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):
"The importance of this legislation cannot be overstated, as it provides the critical support and resources our military requires to face the complex challenges around the world. This legislation ensures military readiness, while also creating additional accountability with the implementation of an audit of the Pentagon budget." Faso continued, "I am also proud that this legislation provides a much-needed pay raise to our troops. The men and women fighting to protect our freedoms should never be shortchanged."
In July the House passed its initial version of the NDAA, which later had to be reconciled with the Senate's own version of defense authorization legislation. Over the past few months, Senate and House conferees deliberated to come up with the final version of the legislation which passed the House today.
The 2018 NDAA authorizes appropriations to DOD for:
Procurement, including aircraft, missiles, weapons and tracked combat vehicles, ammunition, shipbuilding and conversion, space procurement, and other procurement
